There was a fashion of matte lipsticks in the 1990s. In those days the lips used to look very dry because of matte lipsticks and therefore many people didn’t like them. However, now the matte lipsticks are making their comeback in fashion arena, but at this time they have incorporated certain changes in their parameters.

Though matte lipsticks are rather difficult to use, unlike applying the slick of a gloss, but major advantage is that they are more durable. Dark Shade Matte Lipstick

If you are using dark shade of matte lipstick you are likely to have a skin which is  more dry and prone to flakes or cracks. Before applying matte lipstick you will have to prepare the lips. Apply sufficient lip balm and let it stay there for a few minutes. Take a toothbrush or a piece of flannel soaked in water and clean your lips to get rid of the dead skin pieces. Thereafter apply additional balm or cream on the lips, but take care that excessive quantity is not used, otherwise the lipstick is likely to slide away from the lips, thus giving odd looks.  A good quality aloe lip treatment will be suitable for soothing and avoiding oil residue on the lips.

Using Texture on the Face

Try to use multiple textures on the face. Use of plain and only one color tends to create dullness on the face. This provides stability and stays on the skin for a longer duration. There are many colors and shades available in the market which can go well with different complexions. Efforts should be made to select the matte lipstick which looks closest to the skin of the user.
